character naming and recs

Why do all name generators put out names that sound like someone either bashed the keyboard with their head, or strung a bunch of random consonents together? I need good names, dammit!

Also, I found a site that proclaims that it comes up with completely "unique" baby names. Most of them are horrible ones like "Thukigen" and "Qusmame", though it also suggested "Ligur".

...I so totally dare somebody to name their kid that. Bonus points if you name the next kid "Hatsur".

Things That Will Eat Your Brain: All Your Base Rhapsody I am so very dead. *brain explodes in hilarity*

Saiyuki art commentary, vol. 8 by [livejournal.com profile] kate_nepveu. Very interesting. I love examining the flow of art in Saiyuki. It's exceptionally well-done.

[livejournal.com profile] louiselux asked for Saiyuki recs. Lots of good recommendations in the comments.

That All Your Base animation definitively proves that I am not the dorkiest person on the planet.

Will one of them marry me?

Dude, I want one of them to marry me, too. We can dance to that at our wedding! XD

[livejournal.com profile] dragonscholar, who runs the Seventh Sanctum generator website, is creating a new generator to produce Kingdom of Loathing-style classes. One of the ones on the beta list was "Wig Thumper," which would be a totally awesome 18th-century name. "My name's Wigthumper. Horatio Wigthumper."

This is my favorite name site. It is just a list -- no meanings, but I have two other sites I use for meanings.

http://www.gaminggeeks.org/Resources/KateMonk/ is my favorite. The names are seperated by region, but there are also stuff like Old English names and bilical names and Egyptian names and all sorts of stuff. Incredible site.

The two sites I go to if I want a meaning with my cool name are: http://www.20000-names.com/ and http://www.behindthename.com/usage.html

Hopefully that helps you in your generator woe. ^_^
