Jan. 5th, 2009 07:14 pmA big thank you to all of you who left kind words on my last entry. So far, so good with the college thing. I'm here in my dorm, and things have worked out so far, though it is a big change and I've been a little wibbly for the last day or two. I am okay, though!
Good News:
I like my dorm room!
I did not cry when I said goodbye to my parents yesterday! (We spent the last month taking bets on who would cry the most when they dropped me off. Turns out, nobody cried. Yay!)
Everybody at the New School is so nice, my parents and I kept making Pleasantville/drinking-the-Kool-Aid jokes yesterday.
I got a free rape whistle at student orientation!
Bad News:
I couldn't get the internet working until today, so I had no internet (or TV) last night. Boooring. What did people do before modern electronics?
I'm not sure I'll be able to get the classes I wanted. Boo. I got most of the lit/humanities classes I was interested in, but no writing workshops. I'll try to beg the professor to let me crash the class.
...I got a free rape whistle at student orientation. :/
I finally got the wireless working in my dorm (good news!) only to find that the dude who set it up did something weird with my display settings. I've been messing with them for a half an hour trying to get things back to normal, and a couple things are still wonky. For one, the icons on my desktop used to just show white font, and now it's white font on a dark blue background. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix it. Also, when I open up My Computer, I used to get a nice little sidebar on the left that would have links for My Documents, other accounts on the computer, etc. Now that's gone. And the windows in the taskbar are tabbed oddly to the right for some reason. Der. What did you do, computer guy? Now I'm scrutinizing everything on my computer to see if it changed, and I think I'm imagining things have changed when they really haven't.
Possibly I need to go to bed.
