cicer: (anegl without wings)
[personal profile] cicer
*whimpers*

Looks like the bug I've been fighting for the last four days has finally caught up with me. My throat hurts, my head hurts, and I think I just coughed up a lung. Ew. I'm sure you all wanted to know that. *makes tea and whines to no one in particular*

There were quite a few that no one got! Apparently, I have unusual taste in books.

1. When he was nearly thriteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow. - To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee

2. I am older now and have not much to fear from the anger of the gods. - Till We Have Faces, C.S. Lewis

3. Suppose that you and I were sitting in a quiet room overlooking a garden, chatting and sipping at our cups of green tea while we talked about something that had happened a long while ago, and I said to you, "That afternoon when I met so-and-so...was the very best afternoon of my life, and also the very worst afternoon." - Memoirs of a Geisha, Arthur Golden

4. Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams

5. It was Wang Lung's marriage day. - The Good Earth, Pearl S. Buck

6. My father calls her The Angel. - Echo, Francesca Lia Block

7. It is my first morning of high school. - Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson

8. The was once a young man who wished to gain his Heart's Desire. - Stardust, Neil Gaiman

9. "Dropping like flies," drawls the first Gedaechtnis employee. - Idylwild, Nick Sagan

10. The Morris dance is common to all inhabited worlds in the multiverse. - Reaper Man, Terry Pratchett

Now, I need to finish my Crawford/Schuldig Envy drabble for [livejournal.com profile] stagesoflove. Fooey. I knew I shouldn't have waited until the last minute. *shuffles off*

I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I hope you are better already, but if not I find sage herbal tea extremely effective for (well, against) sore throat. Fresh leaves are best, but dry help a lot too.

When I was reading the lines from your books the only one I knew was HHGTG, but that was guessed already. And I considered myself well read :(. Now I see I read 3 others, but I couldn't place them. It's true I read them translated though, so that might have something with it.
