I'm back, bearing meme responses!

I am home! And finally settled in enough to answer the meme I offered in my last post, oops. Sorry folks, I got distracted unpacking (and delighting in my high-speed internet connection. Oh, wireless internet, never leave me again!). Also, this whole no-bugs thing is really, really awesome. Eee, my home! I missed it!
Anyway, onto the meme!
vom_marlowe asked me about recipes.
What are some of your favorite foods? Recipes? Hates/Loves?
Oh, tricky. I really like to cook, so I love trying out new recipes, even when they flop. I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm not a big meat eater either, so I often like to eat meatless dishes. A couple days ago I made my favorite vegetarian lasagna. It's really good, and very healthy. You just cook up your favorite veggies, sauteeing them lightly in a pan, and then layer them with lasagna noodles, sauce, part-skim shredded mozzarella, and low-fat ricotta, and add your favorite spices. I like to put zucchini, mushrooms, and carrots in mine. It's very yummy. I also like making soups. I have a really good recipe for tortilla soup, which is one of my all-time favorites. I also make a cold cucumber soup that's very nice in the summer. And my mom makes a fabulous chili, made with ground turkey instead of ground beef. Mmm.
In terms of what I like and don't like in food: I don't like incredibly strong, overwhelming flavors. I just made a spinach dip yesterday that turned out gross because there was way too much dill in it. I prefer things that are lightly seasoned. Also, not greasy. I can barely eat restaurant food sometimes, because it's just so oily and yicky. As for what I do like...I love pastas, soups, desserts, and salty stuff. I do like fried food a lot, especially french fries! And chips! Mmm. Junk food. I love cakes and pies, too. I think I'll try to make a coconut cake today. I love coconut!
vom_marlowe also asked about shoes.
Talk to me about shoes.
Shoes! I'm not a big shoe girl, actually. I mostly just wear sneakers and flip-flops, though I recently bought a couple of pairs of really adorable pumps, because they were so pretty. I haven't really had an occasion to wear them yet (and I'm not sure I ever will) but they're so cute I couldn't resist. The only real weakness I have when it comes to shoes is pumps. They're so sexy and playful. They kill my feet, so I hardly ever wear them, but they make me happy just to see them in my closet.
As I said though, I don't wear interesting shoes very often. Mostly I wear my black sneakers during the winter and my brown flip-flops during the summer. I have about eight other pairs of shoes, but they don't get a lot of mileage. Mostly they're there just in case I need something different, which I seldom do! Also, I wear cheap shoes. I'm not the kind of girl who spends a couple hundred bucks on a pair of shoes; I go to Payless or Target. Cute shoes for $20! Score!
lady_ganesh asked about clothes.
What do you like to wear? Are you interested at all in fashion?
Not really. I have quite a few clothes, but like with my shoes, I don't actually wear many of them! For example, I have tons of fancy dresses that I've somehow acquired (bought them/was given them/etc.) but I hardly ever have occasion to wear fancy dresses, so. Hm. I need to go to more balls and dances, or something. I also have a lot of skirts, but I don't much like wearing skirts or dresses. I prefer pants, because that way I'm less worried about accidentally flashing somebody. Which I'm sure I'd do if I wore skirts, because I'm a huge klutz.
Mostly, I wear jeans, shorts, and tank-top style shirts and blouses. I live in a desert, so it seldom gets very cold here. Thus, pretty much everybody wears warm-weather clothes all the time. I only have a couple sweaters, and just one coat (I bought it when visiting family on the east coast more than five years ago, and haven't worn it since!). I'm not very much into fashion, and really don't put a lot of effort into dressing. If it's clean and more or less matches the other stuff I'm wearing, I put it on! ...Sometimes I put it on even if it doesn't match the other stuff I'm wearing, oops. There's a funny story about how my third-grade teacher once commented to my mother that I had a 'unique way of dressing', but I won't share that now. Suffice it to say that I will never end up in a fashion magazine, unless it's one of those Glamour 'don't's.
gredelity asked about first fandoms.
Talk first fandoms to me.
Ahaha! Oh no. This will be embarrassing. Erm. Okay.
My very first fandom was Digimon. ...I will wait for you to stop laughing now. Ahem. ...I was almost twelve years old and brand-spanking-new to the internet, and decided to look up information on my new favorite show. Lo and behold, I found a community of people who loved the show as much as I did! Joy! I then proceeded to do lots of terribly embarrassing things like write bad emo fanfiction. Fortunately, the sites I posted at vanished a long time ago, and my old computer that housed my old fanfiction crashed years and years ago, taking everything with it. Whew!
After that, I explored a lot of different fandoms, particularly Escaflowne and Gundam Wing. I wrote bad emo fanfiction for those, too. S-sigh.
Aaand that's about all I got for now. I do have other things I want to chat and squee about, particularly Saiyuki and Vassalord. So I'll be back, same bat-time, same bat-channel!
Anyway, onto the meme!

Date: 2008-08-09 07:53 pm (UTC)That being said, you sound as though you know shiny and magical places to find Vassalord. I have only ever been able to find the first like, two chapters. And some few-and-far-between raws from volume two. If you have knowledge of such shiny and magical places to find Vassalord, I would be forever in your debt. :|
