Oh my god, you stupid fic, just end already! I thought I'd be able to finish you today, but you're still going. Dammit. *bangs head on keyboard* Curse you, [livejournal.com profile] cicer's-inability-to-write-anything-under-3,000-words. You are a pain in my behind, and probably the reason why I never finish anything these days. Arg.

I shall distract myself with a meme.

Nicked from somebody on my friendsfriends list. See if you can figure out what they're from. Bear in mind that if you can't, I will bug you about how much you need to see the ones you don't recognize. :D I tried not to pick too obvious ones, but I think they're still pretty well-known.

Ten Pop Culture References You Expect Your Nearest and Dearest to Get:

1. Who's the more foolish: The fool, or the fool who follows him?
2. You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
3. Life after death is as improbable as sex after marriage.
4. See, I'm dishonest. And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly.
5. No, thank you. We don't want any more visitors, well-wishers, or distant relations.
6. Never send a human to do a machine's job.
7. The Burger Lord pathfinder salesmen had been shot 25 minutes after setting foot in France.
8. You don't have to stay anywhere forever.
9. Things used to be pretty simple. A hundred years, just hanging out, feeling guilty. Really honed my brooding skills.
10. It's called a sense of humor - you should get one - they're nice.

My mother and I quote it all the time. Every time one of us says, "To make a long story short...", the other is guaranteed to yell out "TOO LATE!". XD

XD "Pretty in Pink" (#10), right? ♥

Oh yay! [livejournal.com profile] lisa_bee got #5, that was going to keep me from sleep, I tell you. XD Aaaah, but now I feel I should know #8.... ^_^;;

From: [identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com
Yes! Embarrassingly, I'd never actually seen Pretty in Pink until a couple months ago when a friend and I had an Eighties Movie Night. We played the 'Duckie dancing in the record store' bit over and over about five times. XD

If you're curious for a hint for 8, [livejournal.com profile] lisa_bee guessed three authors below, and it's one of them.

2. Princess Bride.
7. Good Omens. (squeee! Always one of my favorite lines.)
9. Angel?

From: [identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com
All correct! I was wondering if anyone would get the Angel one.

1. Obi-Wan (in A New Hope)
2. Princess Bride
5. Lord of the Rings (Bilbo)
6. Sounds like something Matrix-y. :D

From: [identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com
Bingo! You're right on all counts. And yay, you figured out 6 was The Matrix! I realized after picking that one that it was a little obscure. I was gonna go with 'There is no spoon' but that would've been too easy. :D

2. Vizzini! Princess Bride!
3. Woody Allen movie? Dunno.
4. Captain Jack Sparrow!
5. Bilbo Baggins.

9. Good Omens, maybe?

I feel like I really ought to get more of these... I want to say 7 is Bill Bryson or Douglas Adams but that's really only just a total guess. It could be Gaiman, it could be ANYTHING.

2, 4, and 5 are right. You're the second person to have guessed Woody Allen for 3, but no. It's from Clue.

Yep, 9 is Good Omens. And I'll give you a hint for 7: It's one of the people you guessed. XD

Yes for 1, 2, 7, and 9 (It's from Buffy, but it was Angel who said it). Nope on 6!
