More questions

In all the hubbub of the past few weeks, I completely forgot about a few questions people gave me back when I was doing the 'Five Questions' meme! Well, better late than never, right?
trensaddiction asked:
1. Who do you most admire?
Oooh, I hate questions like this! There are so many people I admire so much that I end up giving really vague answers because I can't pick any one person. I have tremendous admiration for people who dedicate their lives to helping others. Doctors, teachers, relief workers…anybody who really works hard and even puts their life on the line to take care of others. That’s just amazing to me, and I can’t imagine doing it myself. I also have the utmost respect for people who take dangerous jobs to fight for justice and put themselves in harm’s way in order to do what’s right. That’s very admirable, in my book.
2. If you had a million dollars, but only thirty minutes in which to spend it all, what would you buy?
Oh, this is tricky. In most cases, if I had a million bucks, I'd put most of it into savings. But if that's not the case...okay. First I'd buy a nice house (hope the realtor could work quickly!) and some pretty furniture and other stuff to fill it. Maybe a new computer and TV and that sort of stuff. Then I'd go on a massive book-buying spree and buy out the nearest bookstore. With any luck, I'd be able to stockpile enough literature to last me the rest of my life! That's what I'd like best. Depending on how much the house and furniture were worth, that should bring me up to a million dollars. If it didn't...well, I'd probably have run out of time at that point! XD I don't know what else I'd want to buy, anyway. A nice house, and plenty of books to fill it is all I really want anyway.
3. What companions would you choose for an evening of cowtipping?
Bwahaha! I think I might pick Schwarz. Nagi could easily tip the cows, while Schuldig and Crawford could keep a lookout. The Farfarello could slice us up a nice steak! I think the event would go off nicely. Let's just hope Schwarz doesn't use the night to lure me into a life of high-powered assassination!
4. If you could choose any author (alive, dead, published or not) to write the story of your life, on the understanding that whatever they wrote would indeed happen, which author would you choose?
Oh, this is a dangerous game! Well, my favorite author is probably Neil Gaiman, but I'm a little afraid what he might do to my life story! I'm also a great fan of C.S. Lewis, so I might have a little more luck with him. I'm sure Jane Austen would give me a very nice life, too. Alternately, I could beg on of my favorite online writers to write me a nice life! That might be the best option of all, but I don't know who I'd choose. Can all of you collaborate? :)
5. You have three oranges, but in order to have enough orange juice for breakfast, you will need fifteen more. Goku has three oranges. Yohji has two oranges (or at least that's what he says). Aya has one orange, but will deny having it. Hakkai has eight oranges. Count D is willing to sell his orange, provided you will sign a contract. Aziraphale will happily give you an orange. Crowley will too, but he's got an odd smile on his face. Assuming grocery stores and farmers' markets are right out, how do you get that juice made? XD
Uh oh. I think I'm in trouble. XD Uh, I 'll beg the oranges from Goku. Maybe I can get him to trade me the oranges for some candy. Hopefully Yohji's telling me the truth about his two oranges. I'll flirt with him until he gives them up. I don't know how I'd persuade Aya to give me his orange. Maybe if I look pathetic and talk about how my big brother never gives me any oranges, he'll cave. *dies* I'm sure Hakkai would give me the oranges if I asked nicely, or offered to trade him some of my favorite recipes. Count D is Right Out, though. He might have an orange, but I ain't signin' no contract to get it! I would gratefully accept Aziaphale's orange and promise to do a Good Deed to pay him back for it, but I wouldn't take Crowley's orange. Lord only knows what he wants for it! My immortal soul isn't worth a glass of OJ! Let's see, that makes fifteen oranges, right? Whee!
louiselux asked:
1. How did you first get into fandom?
Ahh, let’s crank up the Wayback Machine! It was about…seven or eight year ago, I think? Eight, I think. I was but a wee preteen girl infatuated with the newfangled anime that was beginning to make its way to American televisions. I fell in love with Digimon (shh, stop laughing!) and promptly went on the computer to see if I could find other people who liked it too. Imagine my surprise when I found a burgeoning group of people just as dedicated to their favorite books, movies, and TV shows as I was! I’ve been in and out of a lot of different fandoms since, but as far as fandom as whole goes, I never left.
2. How do you choose which WIP to work on at any given time?
Oh dear. It depends on a lot of different things. Mostly it’s just about what I feel like working on at the moment, but sometimes it hinges on whether I made it a goal to finish a project by a certain deadline, or whether I feel guilty about not working on something for a long time. Mostly it’s just what I feel like working on, though, which is why some projects can languish in WIP hell for over a year, while others get pounded out within a few days. It just depends.
3. What's your ideal career?
I would really like to be a professional writer some day. Preferably a novelist, because I find it easier to work on long projects. If I could ever make a living by writing and publishing books, that would be a dream come true.
Alternatively, I think being a book reviewer would be a lot of fun. I love to read, and I love to talk about my thoughts and opinions of books, and think critically about what I’m reading, so I think it would be a blast writing a book review column of some kind.
4. Describe a favourite personal possession
Ooo. I don’t really have a single favorite possession! My laptop is probably the single most prized thing I own, though, since I spend so much time on it and it gives me so much enjoyment and allows me to surf the internet, research things, read cool stuff, etc. But I have a lot of children’s books left over from my childhood, and those are very precious to me. I like to go through them periodically, because they remind me of happy time in my childhood, and all the stories I loved best. They also remind me of my parents, and how much time they spent reading to me, and that makes me happy.
5. If you were going to live abroad, which country would you move to?
This is a toughie. Assuming the language barrier wouldn’t be a problem, I’d probably pick Sweden. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Sweden from people who have traveled and lived abroad, and I know they have many wonderful social programs that I really support. So I’d probably go there, or England. I want desperately to see England someday, and I’m really fascinated with everything about life and culture their. Hopefully, someday I will get a chance to at least visit both places, if not stay there for a while!

Date: 2007-08-10 04:22 am (UTC)Everyone should go cowtipping with Schwarz! Absolutely.
Also, it's nice to know I'm not the only one who's saved a number of her childhood books. While I may very seldom read them, it's comforting to have a few whose pages I can open and smell and in doing so remember happy nights from a long time ago.

Date: 2007-08-11 05:10 am (UTC)Oh, I adore all my childhood books. As you said, they do have a familiar smell and feel, and some of mine have scrawled handwriting in the margins and little doodles. :) It's very nostalgic, isn't it? And it makes me feel lucky to have so many happy memories associated with books.
