TOAD INSURGENCY

There is a very determined toad outside the garage. He has been furiously attempting to sneak his way inside for the last several nights. We've had to shoo him out repeatedly, and he still keeps trying. When we get him out and shut the garage door, sometimes he flings himself against the door in the mistake belief that he can use his body as a battering ram. It's incredibly cute. I have no idea what he might be looking for out there. We put a little dish of water out in case he was thirsty, but he doesn't seem very interested in it. It's quite warm out, and the outside lights are pretty bright, so I don't think he's attracted to the warmth and brightness in the garage. I can only conclude that he is attempting to invade the home and overthrow us, thereby seizing it for himself. And to think, he looks so harmless.

The funny colored bits on the ground is the water we poured out for him. You can see that he is shunning it as being clearly inferior quality.

Toad! He's so cute :-) Thank you for giving him water, in case.

I squeed over him quite a bit. He's pretty cute. He was Not Impressed by my affections though. He seems fairly aloof. XD

Hee, awesome!

When Tav and I lived in a very old farmhouse in the country, with a half-inch gap under the screen door, the place was invaded by tinyfrogs every rainy evening during summer. Fortunately the cat had no idea what to do with them and would just paw at them a bit attempting to herd them while yelling for his people to come see.

How big is the Toad?

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Eee! So tiny! How cute! And yikes, it's a good thing your cat didn't think they were prey. That's so funny that she tried to herd them. *dies* I can just picture it.

About as big as my fist? I have smallish hands, so that's not very big. He seems inclined to keep his body scrunched up, and didn't stretch out even when he was hopping around, so it's difficult to tell.

...That is so cute, what. XD

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it? I totally cooed over him. I find frogs and toads really darling. There used to be quite a few toads around the house where I grew up, and I'd always hang around and stare at them. Socute!

How big is the lil' dude?

It's hilarious, but I'm afraid of smaller frogs and toads. But the bigger they are, the less I'm afriad of them. My phsyche is retarded, it seems. -_-;;

About as big as my fist.

Bwah! No, I get that. Smaller ones can look kind of alien-ish and creepy. I still think they're cute though!

S-Socute! And he looks all badass, sort of like "GTFO MY HOUSE BITCHES".

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He's totally badass. We were chasing him with a broom, trying to shoo him out, and he just looked at us like, >(. I'm reasonably sure he's still lurking somewhere outside.

So grumpy!! ^___^

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He's a cranky little guy. XD

Heee, grumpy toad! I come across those occasionally in the garden/shed and they always make me jump when they first move because of the suddenly having to switch my brain from seeing a hard stone thing to seeing a soft leathery alive thing. I like them, though; they're so weird.

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
They do camouflage awfully well! I saw this guy out on the lawn early this morning and did a doubletake because I couldn't tell if it was him or a rock.

Eeee! He's adorable! He looks so grumpy.

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
He's a very crabby little toad who is Not Impressed by our resistence to his hostile takeover attempts.

Catch him and mail him to me and Xpyne and we will take him off your hands ♥!!!

Hee! I'd keep him myself, if I could! Sadly, he's not been about the last couple nights. Perhaps he's given up and moved on to greener pastures.

[identity profile] mistressrenet.livejournal.com 2007-04-07 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Name him Sanzo. If you have a broken pot or something you could half-bury it in the dirt and see if he likes that-- he may be looking for shelter.

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-04-07 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Bwah! That's the perfect name for him, clearly! Oh, I hadn't even thought of that. At our old house we had one of those clay 'toad homes' type things and they always congregated about it. I'm not sure where it's gotten to, but I'm sure I could fashion something out of an old pot. Thanks for the suggestion!

[identity profile] mistressrenet.livejournal.com 2007-04-07 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I always wondered if they worked! I might try one behind our garage this summer.

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2007-04-08 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
The one at our house always had a toad lurking somewhere nearby. :) It gets pretty warm here in the spring and summer, though, so I think they were desperate for someplace nice and cool to hang out. So if you live in an area where its particularly hot or cold, it probably had a good chance of luring some toads.

Sadly, I haven't seen my little Sanzo the last few nights. I think he moved on to another house. Sigh.

Maybe a Goku will follow him.
