I have come to the sad conclusion that I am a bibliophile of the highest order. Recently, somebody asked me what I would buy if I had 10,000 dollars to spend as I wished. My immediate answer was, "Books." Inevitably, they asked, "Well, what else?" To which I responded, "...More...books?" I think they thought that nobody could possibly need or want ten thousand dollar's worth of books, but oh how wrong they are. I could buy dozens in one go, easily. I went to Barnes and Noble today, with the intention of celebrating a sucessful first week of classes buy buying myself books, and wanted nearly everything I saw. It was hard to restrain myself from spending too much. Woes. I think I need some kind of book-addict rehab, but I like book-buying too much to repent my ways.

I did buy four books though, and am very excited about them. I got Sex with Kings, which I decided I had to have after I read Sex with the Queen a few months ago and loved it. I'm a history geek with a passion for reading about royalty, so this was a must-have for me. Also, the sexcapades of the royals of yore are very amusing to read.

I also got The Persian Boy, after hearing various people on my friendslist chattering about Mary Renault. Also, I bought Peony in Love, because I loved Lisa See's other stuff so much. Finally, I bought Princess Academy, which I'd already read via the local library. I like Shannon Hale a lot. Her stories are really sweet and well done, and they have a lot of life in them. I wanted to get one of her books I hadn't read yet, but they only had this one and another that I already owned. Boo. Will have to order them online.

As far as school goes, I had a very easy re-entry and like all of my classes very much, which is excellent. I'm taking the Creative Writing workshop again, and I'm really thrilled about that. I absolutely adored it last semester, but was afraid I wouldn't be able to take it again this semester because of scheduling conflicts. Happily, I can! It's funny, but I've noticed I actually write more during the school year than I do during the summer and holidays. I always mean to take advantage of the free time to write, but somehow end up getting bored or lazy and not following through. I seem to have better discipline during the semester. My Creative Writing class has inspired me to dust off the novel I did for NaNoWriMo '05 and see about continuing it. I haven't touched it since that November, and I don't know why, since I really do like the story. I think I might do a sequel to it for this year's NaNoWriMo, for which I'm already excited and have been thinking about for months. :D I've already warned my professor that I'm going to try and draft some of the people from our Creative Writing class into doing it too. She supports me wholeheartedly, so now I must think of ways to trick my classmates into agreeing. Hm.

I'm feeling very cheery lately, and I hope all of you out there are feeling the same!

So, for the last month or so I've been keeping four journals active: my LJ, a GreatestJournal, a JournalFen journal, and an InsaneJournal. I made several different accounts because it seemed prudent at the time, given the state of uncertainty on LJ, but things have settled down for now, and it looks like most people are planning to remain on LJ for the time being. And given that keeping all those journals up is kind of a hassle, I've decided to just pick one journal site to use as a backup and remove everything from the others. I think I'll still keep the accounts, in case I want them later, but I'll take down all the entries, icons, etc and probably won't actually be using the accounts at all. Keeping four journals synched is just too much. I want to pick the journaling site that will be most convenient for others though, since it really doesn't matter to me which one serves as a backup. So I ask you, the good people of LJ!

Am personally leaning toward the GJ, since it has most of the features I like best, like tags and the ability to not get confused when I try to date posts out of order. The servers are not very robust, though. Hm.
