And she's off again
Apr. 24th, 2007 07:02 pmI feel like such an active jetsetter. It feels like I just got back into town, and already I'll be leaving for Costa Rica tomorrow. I won't be back until May 5th, and probably will have little to no internet access, so don't expect to see me about for the next week and a half. It'll be something of a business trip, since I'll be accompanying my mother as she does as Spanish language immersion program, but I'm still excited. We hope to do some snorkeling and hiking, and maybe even try something like rock climbing or ziplining. Should be fun!
I'm sorry to leave, though, because I just discovered a hummingbird outside who appears to have built a nest on top of one of our hummingbird feeders! We're too far south to get many nesting birds, so this is very exciting. This little one must be an eager beaver, since I've read the hummingbirds don't usually nest until May or June. It would be too hot to nest here then, though, so I guess she was smart to come early. I'm sorry I won't be in town to watch her, but maybe if I'm really lucky she'll still be there when we come back. I'll try to snap a picture or two of her tomorrow. Unfortunately, it was too dark out to do it when I discovered the nest tonight, but I did get a good peek at her! If I can do it without bugging her, I'll try to sneak a look in the nest. In the meantime, you can all look at this site to see some ridiculously cute pictures of a hummingbird nest and baby hummingbirds. Socute.
Well, if I don't get a chance to pop in tomorrow, I'll see you all when I get back! Ciao!
