Life update and meme

cicerMidterms next week, arg. I'm doing quite well in all my courses, but it's been a pretty mentally and physically draining semester. I'm getting treatment for the allergy problems I've been suffering from for the last several months, which will hopefully give me a little more energy. However, I am currently getting distracted by all kinds of spring plans for self-improvement, like trying to eat better, get more exercise, clean out the house, and so forth. Sigh. There just never seems to be enough hours in the day. Oh well. Also, it's getting really warm. Which is sort of nice, except that by 'warm' I mean about 90 degrees F. Summer is on its way already!
I hope you all are enjoying nicer weather, though! And hopefully Real Life has smoothed out a little, since it seems like lots of you have been suffering from illnesses, job difficulties, and sick family members. I am sending you all psychic good wishes!

1. Can you cook?
Moderately well. I have a few stand-by recipes that I cook pretty frequently, and don't often try something new. But when I do it usually turns out all right. I bake much better than I cook, though.
2. What was your dream growing up?
Oh, I had so many dreams. If you're talking about future careers I wanted to have, they changed every year. At various points I wanted to be a teacher, a doctor, and marine biologist, an astronaut, and a writer. Also probably things like a Power Ranger and a princess, but those don't count. :)
3. What talent do you wish you had?
I would love to be able to play a musical instrument like the guitar or violin. Also, I'd love to be able to paint well, like in oils or watercolors.
4. Favourite place?
Pretty much anywhere on the island of Kauai.
5. Favourite vegetable?
Hm. Tough. I like zucchini a lot, as well as mushrooms. Are those vegetables? Also, I like peas and green beans. I'm bad at picking favorites! I usually have to narrow it down to the top five.
6. What was the last book you read?
I'm not sure what the last one I actually finished was, but I'm currently reading Gilead Marilynne Robinson and The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop by Lewis Buzbee. Oh, I think the last one I finished was Call of the Wild by Jack London.
7. What zodiac sign are you?
Sagittarius.
8. Any Tattoos and/or Piercings?
Just the ears.
9. Worst Habit?
I can be very critical sometimes, of myself and others. Also, I have a very strong sense of pride which borders on arrogance at times.
10. Do we know each other outside of LJ?
I assume this meanslouiselux? No, but I'd like to meet her someday! :)
11. What is your favourite sport?
I don't really like sports! Oh, I like swimming and hiking sometimes, though.
12. Negative or Optimistic attitude?
Ehn. Both? I'm deeply pessimistic about some things, but I have a pretty strong sense of optimism about myself and my place in the world.
13. What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?
Squee at you about all the ideas I have for Saiyuki crackfics.
14. Worst thing to ever happen to you?
I haven't had very many bad things happen to me, fortunately. My middle school and high school years were pretty rough though, particularly when I was dealing with severe depression and anxiety. That was probably the worst.

I can put both legs behind my head at the same time.
16. Do you have any pets?
No, I'm allergic to most animals.
17. Do you know how to do the macarena?
Yes. When I was a preteen the Macarena was all the rage and my best friend and I would spend hours practicing it. It's pretty embarrassing now.
18. What time is it where you are now?
3:40 pm.
19. Do you think clowns are cute or scary?
Icky and creepy!
20. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?
Hm. Maybe the shape of my face, particularly the jawline.
21. Would you be my crime partner or my conscience?
Can I be the evil mastermind and strategist? I'll build a giant laser and everything.
22. What color eyes do you have?
Dark brown.
23. Ever been arrested?
Thankfully, no!
24. Bottle or Draft?
I don't drink beer.
25. If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it?
Ooo. Buy lots of books, probably. And then maybe go to Hawaii.
26. What kind of bubble gum do you prefer to chew?
I don't really like gum. But probably cinnamon.
27. What 's your favourite bar to hang at?
Technically, I'm not quite legal to drink. But I don't care for alcohol much anyway, and I'm a homebody. So I probably wouldn't hang out at a bar anyway.
28. Do you believe in ghosts?
Not really. I sort of believe in the resonance of psychic energy, but I think most of the people who claim to encounter ghosts are just seeing what they want to see.
29. Favourite thing to do in your spare time?
Read. Either books or fanfiction. Pretty much anything I can get my hands on.
30. Do you swear a lot?
Sort of, but only in my mind or when I'm by myself. I don't often swear in front of other people, but I don't mind if they do.

Oh boy. Um. Just people being generally rude and inconsiderate and failing to consider the feelings of others. Also, bad spelling and grammar in anything drives me up the wall.
